Record & Reporting
Our aim is to share information about children freely with their parents, and hope they will do so with us. In this way we can work together in the best interests of the children. We start the process by asking for completion of a contact form which includes space for details of medical conditions, allergies or other concerns and an introductory sheet about the child’s favourite toys, books and activities.
While a child is attending Little Owl Pre-school the staff make time to discuss with parents aspects of their child’s development whenever this seems desirable. We also tell parents of particular achievements which we feel will be of interest.
We assess the children’s development by observing them during their time with us. We keep this information within a Learning Journey. We use the EYFS curriculum guidance to check their progress and to plan for their next steps. We update this at regular intervals.
At the end of each child’s time with us we give the parents a Learning Journey highlighting their achievements. Progress summaries are passed to the school they will be attending.
Parents are always welcome to look at their child’s records at any time throughout the year.
